Location: Seoul
Operating Hours: Daily from 9.00am to 6.00pm. Closes at 5.00pm from November to Febuary. Closed on Tuesdays.
Description: Kyongbokkung Palace or the Palace of Shining Happiness Built in 1394, the palace is the residence of the first royal family of the Chosen Dynasty. Findlotus ponds, ancient stone pagodas and pavilions among the vast walled grounds. Both the National Museum of Korea and National Folk Museum are located inside the palace compound. Admission fee of 700 won.

Description: Panmunjom (Demilitarized Zone) Place where the Korean War ended in 1953 with the signing of the peace treaty. Marks the border with North Korea.
Name: Manjanggul Caves
Location: Cheju Island
Operating Hours: Open daily from 9.00am to 7.00pm. From November to February, closes at 5.00pm.
Description: Manjanggul Caves Formed by volcanic eruptions, it is one of the longest lava caves in the world. Bats and rare animals inhabit the interior. Admission fee of 2,200 won.

Description: Haeinsa Temple Korea's most famous temple, it contains more than 90 buildings scattered over a 50-square-mile area. Houses the Tripitaka Koreana woodblocks, the most complete collection of the Buddhist canon found in East Asia. Admission costs of 2,500 won.

Description: Shopping From antiques to clothing to ginseng. Modern replicas can be found at Insa-dong or "Mary's Alley". Try Namdaemum and Tongdaemum Markets or Itaewon for inexpensive clothing. More up-market finds are available at Myong-dong and Apkujong-dong. Kyongdong Market is famous for its spices and rare medicinal herbs.
